New Year, New Lineup!

Vinyl Rockit is gearing up to make 2023 an even better Dancin' Good Time!

We've added a couple of new members and thus, we've updated the set list. Don't worry, we will still be playing some of your favorites, but we've now added some great new tunes that we think you are going to love cutting the rug to such as Blondie, Billy Squier and Pat Benatar to name a few.

We look to hit the stage in early March so be sure to add your email at the bottom of this page to get notified of upcoming shows. We'll see you soon for a Dancin' Good Time!

Introducing Rachel May!

Vinyl Rockit would like to welcome Rachel May...

...an international touring/recording artist and 9-time Detroit Music Award winner. With several international tours and a variety of recording projects to her credit, Rachel is most known as the leader of the all-female rock trio Broadzilla, as a guitarist in Maxine Petrucci’s solo band, Novadriver (Smallstone Records), and as a member of Darren McCarty’s Grinder.

Rachel is also featured as a backup singer on recordings by former Fleetwood Mac member Jeremy Spencer. She’s been described as a “powerhouse” vocalist by NME Magazine and noted for her guitar playing as having, “heavy fret-shredding skills” by Guitar Magazine.

Beyond playing music, Rachel led the local music, nightlife and entertainment beat for the Detroit Free Press for nearly 20 years, covering all the exciting news with bars, nightclubs, restaurants and musicians in the local area. When she’s not on stage, you can find her outdoors hiking, kayaking or on the off-road trails.

Leave a comment and welcome Rachel to to the team!

Introducing Don Bunker!

Vinyl Rockit would like to welcome Don Bunker!

Don will be taking over the role of Keyboards after Andy was faced with the opportunity to enjoy some West Coast sun.

Don is a seasoned player with a background spanning many things to note. He is a classically trained pianist, can strum a few bars on the guitar and might even dust off the old saxophone for which he studied in school band; maybe in due time if we can talk him into it.

He has his work cut out for him as we work to bring him up to speed. It will take some time for us all to mold and polish this next chapter of a Dancing Good Time so stay tuned. We will keep you up to date as things develop and look forward to seeing you on a dance floor soon!

Leave a comment and welcome Don to to the team!

Keyboards Wanted!

Vinyl Rockit, one of Detroit's fastest up and coming Party Cover Bands, is emerging from their Covid-19 hibernation.

We are a 7 man outfit with 5 on stage and 2 off, that includes a full PA and soundman as well as a fully choreographed light show and tech. We play mostly classic rock and pop hits intended to fill the dance floor and keep the party going with a "Dancing Good Time". We typically play at a cadence of 1 gig per month and almost always Saturday night.

We have said goodbye to Andy, our keyboard player, due to a relocation. This has triggered a search for someone to fill his position. He played keys in all songs, including songs without key parts where he simulated a second guitar. He had a strong knack for dialing in the perfect tone to replicate the original recording. He sang backup in almost every song and even sang lead on a fan favorite... Unbelievable by EMF. We will miss him and all that he brought.

Here is your opportunity to help take Vinyl Rockit to the next level. If you are a professional keyboard player looking for a project and not just a hired gun looking for gigs, we'd like to hear from you. We have an established set list but may be open to suggestions if you bring the fire. If you have some chops on guitar, this is a plus. If you have a great set of pipes, a big plus!

This is an equal opportunity for all. Age, race and gender can only bring diversity so bring it! The key operative here is professional. Once we are dialed in, we typically do not rehearse. We know our parts, we are prompt and we give it our all. With 7 people in this project, we must be on top of our game.

We are now holding open auditions and want to get the word out now. If you are interested, get in touch (Leon 313-529-4466 or booking@vinylrockit.com). If you know someone who may be interested, send them this link.

If you'd like to get a better feel for what Vinyl Rockit is all about, there are social media links at the top of this site and other blog posts like this one that show great examples. If you'd like to get a jump on learning/rehearsing a few tune to audition with, give these a go:

Jump (with optional 1984 intro) - Van Halen
Let's Go Crazy - Prince & The Revolution
(It Ain't Nothin' But A) House Party - The J. Geils Band
Feelin' Alright - Joe Cocker
Uprising - Muse
Middle of the Road - The Pretenders
Same Old Song and Dance - Aerosmith

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you into our Dancing Good Time!
